About the Role:
As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you’ll be the first point of contact for youth (under age 20) in mental or behavioral health crises. You’ll use evidence-based practices to de-escalate situations, provide support, and connect families with community resources. This position is ideal for someone calm under pressure, solution-focused, and passionate about youth mental health.
What You’ll Do:
- Answer calls to a county-wide youth crisis hotline
- Deliver rapid, age-appropriate crisis interventions using Collaborative Problem Solving, Psychological First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, and more
- Refer clients to local services and supports based on needs
- Collaborate with families, care teams, and community partners to coordinate next steps
- Maintain accurate documentation in our electronic health records system
- Support the team with scheduling, documentation, and data reporting
- Use culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices to serve diverse populations
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years experience/education in psychology, social work, or related field.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and mental health support for youth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License and reliable personal vehicle (travel required)
- Ability to work in multiple physical settings and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to safely support or restrain children up to age 13 if needed
