Job Title: Instructional Aide-Paraprofessional (BEA)
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Springfield, OR
Salary Range: $36,341.00- $40,114.00 (DOE)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assist the classroom teacher in the education of children in the assigned classroom; follow the behavior programs designed for each child; provide relief during assigned activities such as lunch and recess duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an Associate’s (or higher) degree; or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate through a formal state, or local academic assessment or para-educator certificate program demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing: Reading, writing, and mathematics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in various settings including:
- Office
- Classrooms
- Therapy rooms
- Playground
- Community, etc.
- Some standing, bending, walking, running, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- With proper training, some physical assisting with children up to age 13 could be necessary.
- Some driving may be required. Riverview Center for Growth provides reasonable job-related accommodations to disabled persons.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Prepare materials for lessons in collaboration with the teacher.
- Support and lead educational groups and activities aimed at fostering socio-emotional skills.
- Implement individual and group learning activities tailored to each child.
- Utilize effective knowledge and techniques when working with children on both an individual and group basis.
- Maintain, clean, and organize supplies in common areas, including markers, pencils, glue, headphones, games, books, etc.
- Complete assigned paperwork promptly within the electronic health records and education systems.
- Fulfill lunch and recess duties as assigned.
- Attend team meetings, staff meetings, parent meetings, teacher meetings, or training as required.
- Adhere to professional work ethics and ethical standards within the social services profession.
- Uphold confidentiality standards established by the agency.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
