JOB TITLE: Kitchen Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- General knowledge or experience with food preparation and service;
- Physically able to stand long periods of time;
- Physically fit for strenuous activity of lifting and moving items up to 30lbs;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including child friendly nature;
- Acts with integrity, fairness, trust, respect, and professionalism.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assists in food preparation and service, as needed, for Breakfast, Lunch and Snack, using proper USDA portion control standards;
- Completes morning set up procedures to include: sinks, silverware, napkins, sanitizer bottles, water cart, washing fruit, snack cart, breakfast restock, and Tidewatch snacks;
- Maintains dish room and floors; washing dishes and sweeping as needed;
- Assists with receipt of deliveries and proper stocking procedures;
- Ensures productivity levels are high at all times to achieve daily goals in a timely manner;
- Completes breakdown and clean-up duties to include: storage of foods, dishwashing, sanitizing wipe down, sweep floor, dressings restocked and Tidewatch set-up;
- Reports food supply needs to the Executive Chef;
- Assists with cafeteria set up or clean up;
- Assists with chalkboard education and/or cafeteria interaction;
- Follows proper food handling to maintain food quality and ensure food safety.
- Responsible for the preparation and serving of food and beverages in accordance with all federal, state, and local policies.
- Adheres to all health and safety policies.
- Operates equipment in properly to assure safety and to avoid damage to the equipment.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment; performs job safely.
- Adheres to policies and procedures as outlined in the Riverview Employee Handbook.
- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Establishes effective working relationships with other members of the school staff.
- Promotes the overall effectiveness by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities with members of the department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
- Maintains job skills and participate in available training programs.
Terms of Employment:
Part Time as needed. Approximately 15 hours per week.
