What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator Night Shift 5p-5a RN Maternity and Peds position at Riverview Health?
This Registered Nurse position coordinates clinical activities with staff, physicians and other departments on the Maternity and Pediatric units of Riverview Health. The position rounds on patients, serves as the clinical resource person for all staff, and may assist management with staff evaluations and performance improvement activities. The coordinator assists in planning, facilitating and leading the activities of the department and ensures the provision of customer focused care and safety. The position is a mix of clinical resource (70%) and management resource (30%).
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitates effective functioning of care teams by ensuring that individual team members know and understand their role, functions and responsibilities. Demonstrates critical thinking and problems solving skills.
- Ensure systematic collection of data relevant to each patient's chief complaint, age and social situation to obtain sufficient information to determine patient acuity and any immediate physical, psychological or social needs.
- Assists to oversee Standards of Care, Standards of Practice, Standards of Competency, Nurse Practice Act, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Serves on hospital and unit committees as deemed necessary by the manager/director to ensure that patient care is planned and effectively delivered.
- Communicates all relevant information, concerns, issues or questions with management and seeks guidance when appropriate.
- Required to remain current and competent in knowledge and skills necessary to meet the responsibility of the position. Identify, ensure and document compliance to regulatory agency mandates to assure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to relate professionally with physicians, patients, family members and other staff members. Will be able to assist in training and coaching staff members when necessary and be able to provide feedback on annual reviews.

Education Requirements
- Minimum: Graduation from an accredited nursing school, Associates Degree.
- Preferred: Bachelor Degree
- Other: Certification in Nursing Specialty preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Two (2) years of Labor & Delivery clinical experience
License/Certification Requirements
- Registered Nurse valid to practice in the state of Indiana
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association) required to complete within 90 days of hire date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) required to complete within 90 days of the hire date.
- NRP within 90 days of the hire date.
