What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist Night Shift position at Riverview Health?
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and check the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
- Interpret medication orders based on patient age and clinical status and use appropriate resources and references for checking appropriateness of medication order.
- Perform calculations and prepare special dilutions or formulations of medications as needed.
- Prepare intravenous solutions using aseptic techniques.
- Assist in procuring, maintaining, and storing an adequate inventory of medications and perform clinical dosing programs established by the pharmacy.
- Maintain required state and federal records.
- Dispense controlled substances accurately with documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding appropriateness of medication orders and any special instructions for administration and/or monitoring medications
- Perform lab testing according to CLIA’88 regulations
- Other functions and duties as deemed necessary by Pharmacy leadership.
Education Requirements:
- Minimum: Pharmacy degree from an accredited university, as required by law
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum: Pharmacy Graduate of an accredited university.
- Preferred: One (1) year of hospital pharmacist experience.
License / Certification Requirements:
- Pharmacist license eligible to practice in the state of Indiana
