Job Summary
The Cardiac Catheterization RN provides direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The RN assesses each patient to ensure proper care during procedures, provides clear post procedure education for the patient and family members.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, prepare and position patients for procedures.
- Perform minimal and moderate sedation as directed by physician and monitor hemodynamics.
- Prepare, implement and document plan of care.
- Communicate patient's condition to physician before, during and after procedures.
- Perform and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures.
- Perform set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during and after procedures.
- Assist with procedures under the direction of the physician.
- Assess the physical and psychological status of patients, provide interventions/treatments and evaluate effectiveness of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Coordinate with supply representatives to ensure equipment and representative, are available for scheduled procedures.
- Evaluate learning needs of patient and family and provide age-specific and culturally appropriate education.
- If applicable, must function as testing personnel under CLIA1988 regulations as they relate to point of care testing.
- Must be "on call" as required and be flexible with working hours according to patient load.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: Associates Degree from an accredited school of Nursing
- Preferred: Bachelors Degree from an accredited school of Nursing
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: No experience required.
- Preferred: One (1) year in a hospital or critical care setting. Significant cardiac experience, with ICU, cath lab, emergency or Cardiac Recovery background.
License/Certification Requirements
- Registered Nurse eligible to practice in the state of Indiana
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
