Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for oversight and troubleshooting of automation systems associated with drug distribution.
- Configure drawers and assign inventory for new cabinets
- Maintain user profiles, archiving and regulatory records and generate scheduled and ad hoc reports.
- Troubleshoot issues that include (but are not limited to): assisting end users via phone to diagnose and correct patient and order problems and visiting nursing units to assist with cabinet malfunctions.
- Accompany field service technicians during service visits and train new automation users
- Performs audits regarding controlled substances, accurately load and fill medications, oversee emptying, and reconciles contents, of return bins, and ensure that look-alike, sound-alike medications are segregated in automated distribution equipment.
- Inspect medications in automated distribution equipment monthly, maintain outdated medication tracking function, ensure appropriate expiration dates are entered, stock is rotated, and expired items are removed.
- Maintain appropriate par levels for inventories in automated distribution equipment to minimize inventory expense and stock outs and resolve stock outs in a timely manner.
- Perform all the functions and duties of the Pharmacy Technician job as requested or required. When working in the Medication Management Clinic, perform laboratory testing according to CLIA ’88 regulations.
- Assist the Pharmacy Buyer by checking received drug shipments against invoice, and stock the shelves, filling stock requisitions from hospital units, EMS, and physician offices managed by hospital, placing daily order to drug wholesaler, and facilitating pick up of medications from other pharmacies.
- Effectively interview, hire, onboard, train, and manage the performance of all assigned staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent with Indiana Pharmacy Technician license and National Accredited Certification.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Three (3) years Pharmacy Technician experience with a minimum of one (1) year experience with pharmacy automation.
License/Certification Requirements
- Indiana Pharmacy Technician license
- National Accredited Certification
