Riverview Veterinary Hospital is looking for a veterinary receptionist to add to our team. This is a great opportunity to learn veterinary medicine, gain hands-on experience and grow. We were one of the first Veterinary hospitals in the Riverview area and we take pride in our family of clients. We are a growing practice that offers services in general and preventative care, dentistry, surgery, acupuncture, stem cell therapy and laser therapy.
The purpose of this position is to provide outstanding client service. The Veterinary receptionist answers the phone, differentiates between routine and emergency cases, schedules appointments, greets clients, admits and checks out patients, processes payments, manages financial information, and communicates information between clients and staff.
The CSR enjoys working with people and diverse clients and is caring, friendly, and efficient. Creates a warm and welcoming impression. Remains professional and courteous while handling multiple tasks with many interruptions.
Firmly believes in the quality of care provided and communicates this sense of assurance to clients. Understands our services and recommendations and clearly communicates them to clients.
Empathizes with clients and remains compassionate and well-mannered if a client becomes emotional or discourteous. Remains calm and collected in the face of emergency situations. Ultimately, it is the CSR who creates a good first and last impression on our clients. The importance of this role cannot be over-emphasized.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.
The veterinary receptionist is responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Greeting and welcoming patients with sincerity.
- Accurately scheduling appointments
- Data input and medical record keeping into practice management software (Shepherd experience is a plus)
- Client education on products and services
- Answering a multi-line phone system, returning e-mails and texts
- Informing the veterinarian on a call of any emergencies that require urgent attention
- Issuing invoices for treatment and prescribed medication after each consultation
- Receiving and verifying payments after each consultation.
- Medication requests/Call backs
- Maintaining a clean lobby
- Liaising with courier services and laboratories to ensure that samples are delivered and collected on time.
Qualifications to be considered for this position:
- Experience as a receptionist or customer service representative (2 yr)
- Experience in Veterinary Medicine (2 yr)
- Basic computer skills (experience with Shepherd PIMS, preferred)
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and other hospital staff members
- Demonstrate a positive and professional demeanor
- Desire to provide excellent customer care to clients

Working days:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am-6pm
- Rotating Saturdays from 8am-12pm
