Company Description

Riverwards General is an emerging, full-service interior design studio located in Greater Philadelphia. We operate with an elevated level of standards for our clients and projects and are looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team! We are a growing studio and looking to add someone with experience in either Hospitality and or High-end Residential design. The ideal candidate is driven, initiative-taking, organized, creative and passionate about interiors architecture. We produce full and complete design drawings in-house, including custom furniture and millwork drawings, while working with and contracting out various other trades, fabricators, and vendors, as needed. Some days we are fully invested in producing our design drawing packages in AutoCAD, while other days we may be out of the office sourcing materials and furniture or visiting one of our project construction sites. Some companies may tout an emphasis on work-life balance, but we really mean it. We work typical 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, we close the office for the week or so between Christmas and New Years, offer 10 paid holidays, and provide our employees with Summer Fridays!


Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager. The Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager will be responsible for collaborating and often leading the design of projects from pre-design and development, through construction administration and management of installation. The Senior Interior Designer will need to possess strong leadership and team building skills to see projects through completion in a timely manner. They will collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members to deliver projects, in support of the Principal Designer and the rest of the team.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • A dedicated leader through all phases of the design process
  • With collaboration from Principal Designer, manage overall vision and style direction, through concept, schematic, design development and construction.
  • Collaborate as a valuable team member to achieve project and studio goals
  • Assist with and manage project budgets and estimates
  • Collaborate and or lead the preparation of design documents related to all phases of a project
  • Draw detailed floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD
  • Assist in sourcing furnishings, fabrics, materials, and lighting, along with relevant samples, pricing, and lead time info.
  • Execute project designs within budget to achieve client satisfaction and maximize studio margins
  • Contribute to, and provide input on, overall operations, including but not limited to the ongoing development of studio efficiency, maximizing studio resources, and improving internal and external communication
  • Assist in leading Junior Designers and/or Interns through various phases of projects including comfortability with delegation of tasks and training
  • Attend trade events with the intent to network on behalf of the studio, including but not limited to building connections, adding resources, and bringing in potential new projects


Qualifications

  • Above all, a firm desire to act with integrity with all interactions both internally and externally
  • Interior Design and FF&E expertise
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Possess a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and approach to work
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Must be highly detail oriented and organized
  • Analytical and problem solving oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills, including the ability to be both kind and assertive with clients, vendors and contractors
  • Work effectively within a team environment and independently
  • Must be familiar with all phases of a project; concept, schematic, design development and construction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various design phases
  • Ability to meet deadlines, consistently
  • Desire to learn and implement Riverwards General’s design style and brand
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • 6 to 10 years of professional design experience.
  • Experience with Custom Furniture and/or Millwork Design & Details
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD
  • Highly proficient in (or ability to improve upon intermediate skills) Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Dropbox
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for a significant portion of the day (this applies mainly to our project install days)
  • Regular access to a vehicle and/or other transportation for attending meetings/running errands
  • Ability to travel on occasion to trade shows
