Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Charging Deployment role is responsible for managing a team of deployment managers to meet (and exceed) aggressive and quantifiable program goals. They will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to follow processes in place, improve upon existing processes, influence future program strategy, and spearhead ways to make Rivian’s Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) deployment more efficient. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, will hold their team accountable, and is willing to roll up their sleeves for program success.

Salary Range for El Segundo, CA based applicants: $159,200 - $199,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Responsibilities
- Managing a team of deployment managers to hit internal schedule, budget, and quality targets.
- The manager must work hand-in-hand with their team to predict project completion dates and budgets upfront to mitigate impact to program downstream.
- The manager must report both upwards and outwards on program health relative to predictions.
- The manager must work creatively and directly with Deployment to mitigate program risks (ie project delays or budget overages).
- Balancing people management with program and project needs
- This leader must ensure team members meet role expectations, follow process guidelines, hit project deadlines, and remain within budget envelope.
- This leader must ensure program health remains strong despite project challenges.
- This leader must ensure project pipeline and pace of approvals/opening is consistent with build plan expectations.
- This leader must remain flexible and stalwart through program evolution (expected and unexpected).
- Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to follow and iterate upon process/strategy
- This leader must work closely with cross-functional partners to maintain program health and support inevitable change.
- It is expected that this leader will work with a range of cross-functional stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Go-to-Market Business Partners, RAN Real Estate, the Centralized Commercial team, IT/AV, Finance, EHS, Commissioning/Servicing teams, and Operations Planning.
Qualifications
- Possesses deep expertise in electric vehicle charging design, utility coordination, permitting and construction, team management, and program management.
- Works effectively with limited supervision, focusing on key responsibilities and is able to lead communication with all stakeholders.
- Be willing to travel to project locations for team support up to 30% of the time; host on-sites as needed with Deployment and cross-functional teams.
- Help build “tops-down” relationships with utility companies for the good of the program (which will support projects long-term).
- Work with the Centralized Commercial team to create contractor and vendor RFP documents (scope narratives, schedules, etc.) to support project roll-out. Build out Rivian’s vendor base by finding, qualifying, and training design firms, material suppliers, and general contractors.
- Responsible to develop and maintain critical vendor relationships.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management (preferred); and 10 years of experience managing teams and design/construction projects of similar size and complexity.
- Risk management as it pertains to contracting best practices with designers, contractors, and material suppliers.
