What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vehicle Verification and Validation Testing Lead position at Rivian?
As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
As the Vehicle Verification and Validation Testing Lead at Rivian, you will spearhead vehicle-level testing efforts for a new line of lightweight electric vehicles. This role encompasses both developmental and validation testing across various components such as drive units, batteries, inverters, displays, and low-voltage electronics, with full ownership of the testing process from start to finish. You will play a key role in ensuring that all products meet strict performance and reliability standards by developing, executing, and overseeing verification and validation methods. This includes setting up and conducting rigorous durability and environmental testing campaigns, as well as managing the status and progress of these efforts.
You will be responsible for establishing test strategies, determining sample sizes, and ensuring the necessary resources and materials are available. Additionally, you will oversee a fleet of test vehicles, ensuring proper software updates and data collection. As a leader, you will guide and support engineers and technicians, both internally and externally, ensuring test execution aligns with requirements and standards. You will also collaborate with development teams to provide insights and feedback, track and escalate issues, and maintain thorough traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.
You will define the functional requirements for Special Test Equipment (STE) and data acquisition systems, as well as analyze and report on test data to drive product refinement and improve quality attributes. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with suppliers, vendors, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced development environment.
