Description
Rivier University has a longstanding legacy of excellence in teacher preparation. Given the vitality and strength of the early childhood and elementary education programs, the Division of Education is seeking adjunct faculty members mindful of the current context of education and committed to preparing the next generation of educators to assume a leadership role in the shaping of the education program and courses for teachers as leaders. The courses in the early childhood and elementary education sequence are focused on understanding human growth and development, learning, reading and literacy, teacher leadership, positive learning environments, and the application of technology for teaching and learning.
As an adjunct faculty member, you will provide face-to-face course and online instruction through innovative teaching methods and technologies. This position provides an opportunity to shape the curriculum and teaching and learning experience for undergraduate students entering the pre-K to elementary grades in inclusive classrooms. The position requires a working knowledge of current state standards with a vision to meet the current early childhood, elementary education undergraduate students where they are, model respect, belonging, and inclusion through interaction and communication; and the ability to identify and meet student needs through identifiable learning outcomes that are effective and measurable.
Duties and Responsibilities
To create an engaging academic learning environment, means of assessment of learning performance, and development and formation of educators to be successful leaders in their own classrooms.
- Provide face-to-face and online course content in one or more areas of the core curriculum.
- Provide quality instruction, direction, mentorship and advisement of students in courses throughout the teacher preparation program.
- Provide and support processes and procedures that enhance timely and constructive feedback and assessment for tracking of student progress on rubrics.
- Respect and support for the mission of Rivier University and Division.
- Participate in the planning, preparation, and conduct of early field experiences and student teaching internships.
