Rivyve Behavioral Health is a 90 bed Behavioral Health Residential Facility (BHRF) located in Bullhead City, AZ, which provides substance abuse and mental health services for adults over the age of 18. We are an evidenced based program treating the whole person (mind, body and spirit). We understand each of our resident’s needs is unique and our goal, regardless of the program setting, is to assist each individual with long-term sobriety and mental health stability and awareness. We deliver services in partnership with government agencies, hospital systems and health plans.
Job Description
The Medical Technician is responsible for the direct care and assistance in activities of daily living to residents. The Medical Technician will report directly to the lead RN. He/she must communicate with staff and ensure that facility policies and procedures are followed while providing direct resident care.
Primary Responsibilities
· Responsible for assisting in the nursing care of the facility.
· Organize and perform all jobs to be done by supervised staff.
· Responsibility and accountability for all resident medication.
· Ensure that medication room, medication refrigerators, and medication carts are locked while not in use.
· Adhere to the Controlled Substance Audit Policy and immediately notify the Administrator if the count is inconsistent with the log.
· Responsible for education and knowledge of all residents under your care.
· Ensure all assignments are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
· Follow all physicians’ and RN’s orders, within your scope of practice.
· Perform rounds for all residents ensuring that Care Plans are followed.
· Assist in writing and updating resident assessments and care plans and have understanding of the MDS and Quality Indicators.
· Notify Medical Records for appointments that need to be made per physician orders received.
· Ensure the accuracy of your work.
· Conduct complete, accurate, and truthful documentation including:
o Initialing and signing all Medication Administration Records and Treatment Administration records when administering medications, treatments, or dietary supplements. Including documentation to indicate medications, treatments, and supplements not administered during your shift.
o All nurse charting including: Daily Scheduled, MDS, Medicare, Charting by Exception, and documentation of lab/diagnostic results.
o Completion of all assigned MDS assessments.
Statement of Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
· Establish and maintain effective working relationship with assigned personnel, associate personnel, residents and vendors.
· Understand and follow, quickly and accurately, oral and written instructions and perform arithmetical computations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Accurately and safely administers prescribed medications and treatments.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating care specific with diagnostic criteria tailored to meet the needs of the patient population. Ensures that the nursing progress notes and treatment plan reflect the care provided.
- Supports staff, patient, and family education to enhance knowledge, skills, and necessary behaviors to facilitate positive outcomes.
- Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients, ensuring that the patient’s needs are met and that a safe discharge plan is arranged.
Conditions of Employment
· CPR/ First Aid Certified
· Successful candidate must submit to a TB test, or provide a copy of your latest test results in the last 12 months, and Urine analysis.
· Must possess a level one Fingerprint Clearance Card (application must be submitted within 20 days of employment)
· If in recovery, must have a minimum of one-year sobriety prior to application.
· Drivers must have a clean 36-month vehicle record check
Working Conditions
· May be subject to call back and irregular schedules.
· Involves occasional to frequent moderate lifting of 25 to 50 pounds.
· Safety-sensitive position pursuant to A.R.S. 23-493
· Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB, HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
· May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
· Communicates with the Medical Director, nursing personnel, and other department personnel staff and heads.
Education and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree(preferred)
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- A minimum of six (6) months experience as a medical technician. Preferably in a behavioral health setting.
· Obtain/maintain Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Card at employee’s expense.
· Obtain/maintain CPR Certification.
· Complete annual Tuberculosis Testing.
· Complete required in-service training.
