What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Liaison position at RIZE Prevention Inc?
RIZE Prevention is seeking a recent college graduate who is a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an iRIZE Student Liaison (SL). In this full-time SL role, one works closely with middle school students to develop positive relationships and provides them evidence-based guidance on making healthy choices, with a specific focus on preventing drug use. The ideal candidate is empathetic, inspirational, and relatable. Furthermore, the perfect person for this position is someone who is passionate about and committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment in which young adolescents mature and thrive.
Responsibilities
Example of responsibilities include:
Build relationships with students throughout the school year (i.e. mentoring and advising students regarding resisting drug use, referral to CCFC resources to address contributing social or emotional issues, guide and support their decision and empowerment to pursue a healthy lifestyle).
Attend and participate in all iRIZE presentations and school events. These include the kick-off presentations, pep rallies, lunch with students and other in-school activities. This also includes assisting with setup for presentations, minor speaking roles in presentations, and follow-up with students and administrators when necessary or requested.
Develop relationships with school counselors and teachers with the goal of becoming “the” resource for them to gain access to all support resources for drug prevention and intervention via RIZE Prevention's Community Connector for Families in Crisis (CCFC).
Support relationships with parents and help coordinate all school-based referrals to iRIZE Parent Liaison and/or the CCFC
Provide necessary support for any iRIZE summer programs with community organization(s): Develop relationships with administrators of the programs; provide support for delivery of the program; interact with teens, guiding and supporting them as they progress through the summer program.
Qualifications
The best professional for this position is a college graduate with a background in education, social work, public health, or equivalent relevant experience in community service or outreach, student mentorship and advising, or youth ministry. He/she possesses a positive disposition, an eagerness to learn, a strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to take ownership of projects both big and small. The ideal person will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills (Spanish language skills are a ), knowledge of technology to perform and enhance day-to-day business, and creativity to help with outreach and communication regarding RIZE Prevention's iRIZE program.
