Position Summary: A Instrument Technician is an individual who performs entry level basic troubleshooting / repairs on company instrumentation. This position is classified as a training position to prepare the employee for a more advanced instrumentation repair role.
Troubleshooting / repairing problems encountered with company equipment.
Maintaining and making any adjustments to equipment as needed.
Filling Dewars with liquid Nitrogen on a daily basis, changing dry nitrogen tanks and gases as needed.
Engaging in safe work practices
Significant Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Receives training on the following:
Standardized tests following test parameters, obtaining records data and ensuring data has been captured by a system for Calibration Checks.
Requisite laboratory equipment and instrument parts.Troubleshooting / repairing problems encountered with company equipment.
Maintaining and making any adjustments to equipment as needed.
Filling Dewars with liquid Nitrogen on a daily basis, changing dry nitrogen tanks and gases as needed.
Engaging in safe work practices
Minimum Qualifications Required:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have appropriate education, experience, and professional registrations. Following is a list of required qualifications:- Education: A degree in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 5 years experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience preferred or entry level with a degree.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Incumbent must be capable of using a multimeter and have the ability to read schematics, Incumbent will be trained and required to show proficiency in troubleshooting / repairing instrumentation for applicable departments in order to be elevated to a Technician II.
- Certification/Licensure: N/A
- Instrumentation: As specified by department.
- Techniques/Procedures: As specified by laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and accredited and/or published methodologies.
