As a carpenter at RJM Construction, you will be responsible for designing, building, stalling and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare the layout of the project including estimate proportions and select materials.
- Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
- Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
- Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Work with prefabricated buildings.
- Create structures for pouring concrete.
- Erect scaffolding.
- Build tunnel bracing.
- Build concrete forms for tunnel or sewer construction project.
- Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors.
- Repair or build furniture.
- Install partitions, doors, and windows.
- Move and install machinery.
Qualifications
Education:
- Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. High School Graduate
Work Experience:
- Minimum of three years in all phases of commercial construction.
- Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control and safety.
Demonstrated Technical Competencies to include:
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Viewpoint CS and Sage/Timberline experience desirable, but not necessary
Demonstrated Professional Competencies to include:
- Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
- Ability to work independently and complete activities according to work schedule
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long period of time
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
