Quality Engineer
Location: Wilmington, NC area
SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer will analyze trends, identify root causes of systemic quality issues, and lead improvement projects. Responsibilities include creating process metrics, coordinating major production approval deliverables, and conducting internal audits.
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with customers on quality concerns, reports, and improvement projects.
- Lead corrective actions using methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone analysis.
- Analyze system data to identify major contributors to poor-performing processes.
- Proactively determine possible failure modes in the manufacturing process and recommend preventive actions.
- Evaluate project performance during and after project completion.
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing and improving systems.
- Coordinate and create PFMEA, MSA, Control Plan, and Capability Studies for customer deliverables and manufacturing process improvements.
- Compile PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process), manage defect containment, and perform root cause analysis.
- Analyze production and supplier nonconformance data to identify causes.
- Analyze customer returns to identify underlying root causes.
- Improve QMS documents, including procedures, forms, and work instructions.
- Collaborate with external suppliers, product engineering, process engineering, maintenance, purchasing, and operations to resolve product and process issues.
- Lead vendor surveillance and on-site assessments of purchased materials and processes.
- Issue, track, verify root cause solutions, and close supplier corrective actions.
- Must be a team player as recognized by peers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you need to bring to this winning team
- 3-6 years of progressive Quality Assurance experience.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Associate or bachelor's degree.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. (Desired)
- Previous work experience in the semiconductor field. (Desired)
