The ideal candidate will provide legal guidance on a wide range of corporate and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the mortgage industry. You will be crucial in supporting our business objectives while managing legal risks.
Candidates must reside in close proximity to Parsippany, New Jersey. Please be aware that this position is not remote.

Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on corporate governance, transactional matters, and general business issues relevant to the mortgage industry.
- Employment Law Compliance: Advised the company on labor and employment laws, including employee relations, discrimination claims, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, and employment agreements, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state mortgage regulations, including RESPA, TILA, and other relevant laws.
- Advise on licensing, disclosure requirements, and lending practices to maintain compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing company policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
- Conduct legal research to stay current with changes in laws and regulations affecting the mortgage industry.
- Manage disputes, litigation, and regulatory inquiries, liaising with outside counsel as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and compliance, to support business initiatives.
- Provide training and support to staff on legal matters and compliance issues.
Preference:
- Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Excellent negotiation skills to facilitate agreements between parties.
- Ability to litigate effectively in court settings when required.
- Knowledge of general law principles is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal issues and develop strategic solutions.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Experience in corporate counsel, 5 years (required)
- Experience within the mortgage or financial services industry (preferred)
- Contract law and employment law (preferred)
- Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school (required)
- License to practice law in New Jersey (required)
