What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perioperative RN (Plastic Surgery) - PRN position at RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa?
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Perioperative Registered Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate care for all patients by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care from admission to discharge and will collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care. The Perioperative Registered Nurse incorporates the characteristics of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with the organizations and the nursing division policies, procedures and standards of care. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment/treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegate's tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers.
The Perioperative Registered Nurse will understand and uphold the VernonSquare Surgicenter's high standards of excellence by abiding to Standard Operation Procedure and policies stated in the Employee Handbook. Each function is to be performed in accordance with government, company policies and procedures.
****THIS IS A PART TIME ROLE APPROXIMATELY 16 TO 32 HOURS PER MONTH****
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum Associates Degree (AA) from 2-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- A minimum of 2 years nursing experience with increasing responsibility demonstrated in Perioperative care required.
- Pain management experience is a plus
- Maintain and keep current applicable RN license from the applicable State
- Maintain and keep current CPR certification; ACLS requirement.
- Hold and maintain valid BCLS/ACLS certification or obtain within 6 months of hire
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Awareness of changing trends in nursing practice and ability to adapt
- Knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to specific location and patient population
- Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
- Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written methods
- Ability and willingness to adjust schedule to meet the needs of the center
RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain clinical, communication and personal knowledge and skills required to meet the challenge of delivering safe and effective patient care
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
- Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or facility policy including patient and family instruction
- Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery
- Responsible for all logs and documentation in regards to medication control
- Participates in facility quality improvement activities
