Position Overview:
RL Controls is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented QA Technician to ensure the quality, functionality, and safety of installed systems on buses/railcars and related transportation systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, hands-on experience in quality assurance, and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

Quality Inspections:
- Conduct thorough inspections of bus/railcar installations to ensure compliance with technical specifications, customer standards, and company guidelines.
- Verify the integrity and functionality of the buses/railcars post-installation, ensuring that added features are fully operational without compromising the original condition.

Testing and Validation:
- Perform system testing to confirm correct installation and functionality of new components.
- Document test results and report any defects, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.

Technical Documentation:
- Review and interpret technical documentation, including schematics, product specifications, and installation guidelines, to ensure accurate quality assessments.
- Maintain detailed records of quality inspections and test results for reporting and audit purposes.

Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve installation and testing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address recurring quality issues.

Other Duties:
- Support additional quality-related tasks as required to ensure smooth project operations and customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in quality assurance or verification.
- Familiarity with electronic systems and components, with knowledge of IPC-620 standards (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as circuit schematics, material tolerances, and finish specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications or experience in quality methodologies such as:
- FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action).
- Risk management or quality auditing.
- OSHA-30 certification is highly desirable.
- Experience in the transportation or mass transit industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Capacity to perform light physical tasks, including lifting objects up to 20 pounds occasionally.
