RL Enterprise Recruiting & Staffing is hiring directly for a client in the pulp and paper products industry. This is a direct-hire, full-time permanent position located in Plymouth, North Carolina.
Position Overview
The Electrical Project Engineer will support business objectives by managing the execution of major capital and expense projects. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role ensures that all strategies, capital planning, engineering, procurement, and construction activities are performed safely, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations in all project activities, including contractors, vendors, and consultants.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including work schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies, with a strong emphasis on safety.
- Conduct process and design engineering analysis, including preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, technology packages, and equipment specifications.
- Provide project leadership and direction, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Communicate project status to executives and stakeholders through reports, briefings, and cost analyses.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses (CBA) and make process improvement recommendations.
- Negotiate supply and service contracts with third-party vendors.
- Provide technical support to resolve operational and maintenance issues.
- Supervise third-party engineering and construction contractors.
- Prepare specifications for materials and equipment procurement.
- Develop conceptual and detailed designs for process and control modifications.
- Oversee capital and major maintenance projects, ensuring effective cost control and scheduling.
- Conduct equipment inspections and surveys as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial mill setting as an Electrical, Mechanical, or Project Engineer.
- Experience working on projects within an operating company or engineering firm is an asset.
- Background in construction management and/or maintenance within an industrial or process plant environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing and budget preparation.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and engineering diagrams.
- Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, SAP, MS Office, and scheduling software.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
- Regular interaction with employees, management, vendors, and contractors.
- Full-time salaried exempt position, typically 40-50 hours per week with possible variations based on project needs.
- Some travel to vendor sites may be required.
