What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatry Technician (LPT) position at RL Klein & Associates?
Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three(3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. Internship does not count towards the required experience. 2. Possess and maintain while providing services to Correctional facility a current and valid Psychiatrist Technician Certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California, to practice as a Psychiatrist Technician.
3. Possess Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association Provider or American Red Cross (with AED);
4. Possess documentation of completion of a competency validation process meeting the requirements of Title 22, Section 70016 prior to performing the duties required by the Correctional facility.
5. Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatrist Technician providing services through this Agreement must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with the Correctional facility. All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication and write effectively in the English language. Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatrist Technician who fails to meet the minimum qualifications shall not be permitted to perform services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Supervision:
• Supervise, train, and evaluate correctional officers and staff assigned to specific programs.
• Serve as a leader in managing the daily operations of assigned correctional programs.
• Monitor staff compliance with Correctional facility policies, procedures, and protocols.
2. Program Management:
• Develop, implement, and manage inmate rehabilitation and educational programs.
• Ensure that all programs align with departmental goals and contribute to the successful reintegration of inmates into society.
• Oversee program scheduling and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Security & Compliance:
• Enforce facility rules and maintain safety and security protocols in coordination with correctional staff.
• Conduct inspections and audits to ensure program and facility compliance with state regulations.
• Address and resolve inmate behavioral issues and grievances as they pertain to program participation.
4. Communication & Reporting:
• Act as a liaison between correctional administration, staff, and external agencies.
• Prepare and submit reports detailing program progress, incidents, and staff evaluations.
• Communicate program expectations to inmates and ensure active participation.
5. Crisis Management:
• Respond to emergencies and critical incidents, ensuring that proper procedures are followed.
• Provide leadership during incidents to de-escalate situations and restore order when necessary.
6. Collaboration:
• Work with other departments and external partners to improve program offerings.
• Ensure effective collaboration between staff in both security and rehabilitative functions.
Qualifications:
• Must be an active-duty correctional lieutenant or have equivalent supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
• Knowledge of Correctional Facility policies and rehabilitative programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in program management within correctional settings.
• Knowledge of rehabilitative processes, inmate behavior management, and evidence-based practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work in high-stress environments and respond to emergencies.
