What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at RL Liquidators?
RL Liquidators is seeking an experienced Cost/Inventory Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and possess a results-driven attitude with a high standard of work ethic, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. This position with on-site at our corporate office off Richards Blvd.
The Cost/Inventory Accountant will report to the CFO of the company and will assist in ensuring that the financial reporting of the company and other ventures is up to date and complete by performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Record ALL inventory receipts and posting accurate item cost in the system
- Analyze the average cost of all items and prepare appropriate cost adjustments when needed.
- Prepare, analyze and report monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by item \ Lot
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward
- Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, purchasing, import/export, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import/export IT, receiving, shipping, and others
- Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories
- Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
- Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by entity and site locations
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability
- Work in special projects as required
- Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
- Maintain Item list in system and create new item when required
Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experience
- Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
- Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
- Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
- Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
- Strong organizational and communicational skills
- Detail oriented
- Knowledge of Quick Books and Microsoft Business Central systems preferred
- Multilocation retail consumer goods background preferred
