Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the client’s business unit(s) by developing electrical hardware solutions to continuously improve the innovation, quality, and budgets across the client’s products/services.
Responsibilities
- Understand the product roadmap against electrical hardware design needs
- Understand develop schedule and cost goals for electrical HW sub-systems
- Work on a cross functional team to leverage previous design solutions, off-the-shelf parts, BOMs, and vendor/manufacturer expertise for new designs
- Work with Test Engineers and Technicians to define and execute test plans for needed validation and characterization coverage
- Manage product development cycle for electrical hardware deliverables
- Define block diagrams, pseudo code, and functional and regulatory requirements
- Design/simulate circuits using schematic capture tools
- Work with PCB layout designers to layout circuit boards
- Lead design reviews for assigned sub-systems
- Build breadboards and prototype boards for lab testing
- Iterate designs as allowed for in project budget and schedule
- Work with procurement and manufacturing teams on optimizing circuit BOM
- Work with quality and reliability teams to meet regulatory requirements
- Freeze qualified designs and follow mass production release process
- Document issues and propose workarounds to team including senior management
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
- Advanced degree such as MBA preferred
- Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
- Minimum 8 years of experience in an electrical HW design engineer role
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with soldering
- Experience designing mixed signal circuits used in consumer and/or industrial products
- Experience using circuit schematic capture, simulation and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, Altium, etc.
- Experience optimizing circuit BOMs for cost and scale
- Minimum 8 years experience using benchtop test equipment such as oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, function generator, logic/network analyzer, thermal camera, etc.
- Minimum 8 years experience developing, modifying, and running test scripts via PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Experience with statistical process control (SCS) including analysis using tools such as Excel, Minitab, JMP, R, etc.
- Experience using hand tools (soldering iron) to hack/blue wire breadboard circuits and components on PCBs
- Experience using 3D modeling CAD such as AutoCAD, etc.
- Experience designing/using test jigs and fixtures for optimal test probing or automation
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- High proficiency using productivity software such as M365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint)
- Ability to use project/program management principles and methodologies to consistently meet task deadlines, triage changing priorities, and track issues to resolution
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams with a customer service mindset
- The position typically operates in a standard office environment and/or from employee’s home
- This is an onsite position located in Redmond, Washington
- Be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
