Position Summary:
This is an embedded firmware development software position, with focus on reproducing, debugging and fixing code errors. The role will also consist of integrating and modifying code from other parties. The candidate will be part of a team developing embedded software/firmware for hardware products.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software/firmware solutions to meet client needs and data
- Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects
- Develop and implement software patches
- Drive software changes with external partners/suppliers
- Manage software in source code control system
- Work with test team to replicate software failures and analyze results
- Collaborate with developers and hardware engineers to debug embedded systems
- Utilize knowledge of communication bus protocols to determine root cause
- Develop and/or execute performance tools and scripts and help increase automated test coverage
- Identify, propose, and implement business process/workflow improvements
- Perform other duties as needed
Education and Credential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field
- Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
Experience Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in a Firmware or embedded systems development role
- Minimum 2 years of experience with C programming experience.
- Minimum 2 years f experience with GIT
- Rust experience is a plus
- Experience with VS Code is a plus
- Use of Agile/Scrum management methodologies on large scale projects to consistently meet deadlines, successfully triage changing priorities, identify risks, and track bugs/issues to resolution
- Working in Windows and Linux based environments
- Working with bus protocols (e.g., USB) or low-level bus controllers, such as I2C or SDIO
- Embedded firmware development (using ICE debuggers)
- Experience using benchtop test equipment such as oscilloscopes or logic/bus analyzers
- Experience developing in PowerShell, Python, C# or similar programming languages preferred
- Experience developing on cloud based platforms i.e., Azure DevOps preferred
Skills Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- Flexibility to work early mornings or late evenings to accommodate meetings with teams in India and China
- High proficiency using productivity software such as M365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and SharePoint)
- Ability to use agile/scrum project/program management principles and methodologies to consistently meet task deadlines, triage changing priorities, and track issues to resolution
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams with a customer service mindset
Work Environment
- The position typically operates in a standard office environment and/or from employee’s home
- This is an onsite position located in Redmond, WA
- Be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
