Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing projects concerning the controls systems and sub-systems used throughout commercial / industrial facilities. The I&C project engineer will draft the scope of specifying new and / or modifying existing systems and sub-systems which are used in the day-to-day operations at a facility. These candidates have experience working with external contractors and Professional Engineers (P.E.) who are the Engineer of Record (EoR) to stamp packages.
Duties and Responsibilities
Draft original scope of facility controls systems and sub-systems, review with system engineers / vendors, and get Project Management approval
Examples of I&C systems include SCADA, DCS, PLC, etc.
Work with the Engineer of Record (EoR) in package sign off process
Work with team to oversee design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance needs for various I&C systems used across the site
Field walks
System installation and configuration setup
Program and test PLCs, calibrate sensors / devices, and perform broader system level validation
Perform other duties as needed
Education and Credential Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field; Preferred Master's degree
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in any state
Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
Experience Requirements
4 years of experience in a instrumentation and controls project engineer role
Experience with modifying scopes of work for new or modified mechanical systems (schedule, resource needs, milestones, system installation and bring up efforts, etc.)
Experience presenting to senior engineers / management
Experience managing projects at an industrial facility
Field walks
System installation, programming, and bring up
Working with external contractors
Work with Engineer of Record (EoR) in stamping packages
Experience using AutoCAD or similar tool
Experience working in semiconductor fabrication (clean room environment)
Experience using Revit or similar tool
Experience using 3D scanning to create point clouds for 3D models of systems
Skills Requirements
Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
High proficiency using productivity software such as M365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and SharePoint)
Ability to use agile / scrum project / program management principles and methodologies to consistently meet task deadlines, triage changing priorities, and track issues to resolution
Ability to collaborate across diverse teams with a customer service mindset
