Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the client's business unit(s) with responsibilities of validating various functional (IP) blocks in ASIC / SoC designs to validate physical performance vs specifications.
Responsibilities
- Understand assigned IP blocks from an ASIC's specification, architectural design, functional models, reference circuit schematics, etc. to optimize validation planning
- Develop test plans, test benches, and test coverage models to validate IP blocks
Determine IC bring-up and handling needs including using chip sockets, test daughter card, etc.
Identify, calibrate and configure benchtop test and debug tools to test functional and electrical performanceDetermine and / or develop FW / SW applications to collect, organize, and analyze test dataUnderstand industry standard board level data, I / O, and control protocolsWork with broader design team on debugging and failure analysisCollaborate with pre-silicon verification engineers, IC design and layout engineers, and characterization engineers on optimizing specifications, managing constraints and engineering change orders, and determining expected performance limitsDocument issues and propose recommendations to team including senior management

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; Preferred Master's degreeEligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa statusExperience Requirements
5 years of experience in an silicon validation engineer role5 years of experience with Computer architecture knowledge and power delivery validation experience5 years of experience with Silicon Validation / verification / testing2 years of experience exposure to simulation in a pre-silicon environmentExperience with IC bring up and validation planningDocumenting and reporting technical risks and constraints to test coverage
Experience using multiple benchtop test and debug tools such as oscilloscopes, logic / protocol analyzers, power supplies, function generators, JTAG debuggers, etc.Experience using programming languages such as Python and C to develop test applications / scripts for automated validation routines and data analysisExperience debugging issues on pre-production silicon partsExperience identifying failure modes, documenting test conditions and results, and quarantining suspect parts for failure analysis labExperience working on cross functional teams including analog / digital / mixed signal IC design and layout engineersSkills Requirements
