Position Title: IT Infrastructure Architect

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Years of Experience: 10 years applicable experience required

Looking for IT Infrastructure Architect to join the Global Information Systems group in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Infrastructure Architect proactively leads and supports architecture activities that guide the development and management of technical and infrastructure solutions.

The infrastructure architect creates artifacts which help develop target-state guidance (standards, guidelines, individual parts, platforms and configurations) for evolving the technical infrastructure across the enterprise.

The resulting solutions are agile and capable of meeting the organization’s current and future-state business capabilities and they drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes.

The Infrastructure Architect understands and has practical experience with and knowledge of a broad range of technologies and can articulate technical architecture design decisions and the value that they create.

Technologies that the Infrastructure Architect will work with include data center infrastructure, cloud, mobile, smart-manufacturing and edge computing.

Key Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Architect will demonstrate competencies across three key dimensions:

Leads and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes and Value

  • Works closely with business representatives, process owners and subject matter experts from other facets of IT to contribute to the design of efficient and value-adding business solutions.
  • Designs for the future, ensuring scalability & flexibility.
  • Oversees and consults on technology changes, updates and implementations.
  • Creates and maintain comprehensive documentation for all infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Derives Future-State Technology Architecture
  • Leads the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential use-cases and impact on the enterprise as well as on the existing technology architecture.
  • Maintains awareness of business strategy and needs as well as IT strategy and needs in order to ensure that technical architecture is poised for future needs and growth.
  • Periodically reviews infrastructure related technology roadmaps and evaluates them against both the internal and external environment to maintain a clear technology direction.

Analyzes and Evaluates Technology, both new and existing.

  • Guides technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive value-adding business outcomes while ensuring nonfunctional requirements are met.
  • Periodic analysis of the technical environment to detect critical deficiencies, opportunities for improvement, and other options, then recommends solutions for improvement. * Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Helps the enterprise define metrics to measure and demonstrate enterprise technology value.
  • Assists with designing the governance and standards activities associated with ensuring technology architecture compliance of projects and products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of design and implementation experience in IT.
  • Understanding of lifecycle management, configuration management, impact and risk analysis.
  • Ability to take account of technical and architectural debt.
  • Leadership experience.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in datacenter technologies including advanced cooling systems, fire suppression and energy- efficient power solutions.
  • Capable of specifying on-premise server hardware and storage technologies to fit solution requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, storage, virtualization and operating systems.
  • Derive specifications of infrastructure hardware and work with vendors to review accuracy of quotations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of other infrastructure technologies such as backups, monitoring, and automation tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of security technologies such as SIEMs, PKI, IDS/IPS, encryption and firewalls.
  • Knowledge and understanding of identity related technologies such as LDAP/Microsoft Active Directory, SSO, MFA and RBAC.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of IT standards and controls. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of many, if not most, components of an enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Understanding of database operations.
  • Knowledge of modeling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate).
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-171, DFARS, Export Control or CMMC 2.0 requirements and standards.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
