What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern Engineer position at RLC Engineering, PLLC?
Description
Under the immediate supervision of the Manager or another designated professional electrical engineer, this position assists electrical engineers with analysis and design work. The intern will support the design of electric power distribution, transmission, substation, and renewable energy projects while learning and applying fundamental electrical engineering principles.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Ability to learn and operate CADD processes required for electrical engineering design.
- Develop a working knowledge of electrical engineering methodologies, terminologies, and techniques.
- Assist with basic line layout/routing and substation layout/equipment plans to support design calculations and production.
- Contribute to the preparation of electrical engineering design drawings and documentation.
- Perform internal technical support for communications and power construction business lines.
- Keep the department manager informed of project statuses relative to pre-established expectations.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with team members while maintaining a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
Other Functions of Position:
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills for effective internal communication.
- Possess proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team’s goals.
Requirements
- Current Study in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Program
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must possess the desire and aptitude to work with computers and complex software.
- Examples of software that might be utilized (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, WINgis, PLSCAD, Autocad, RISA3D, ETAP, ASPEN, and AcSelerator Quickset)
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based work.
