Description
RLC is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the growing civil/structural engineering team. This position will entail work on a variety of electric power delivery and renewable generation projects, including structural steel and foundation design. This individual must be self-motivated and eager to work within a multidisciplinary team. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with steel buildings and masonry structures to help fill skill gaps in the team’s capabilities.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Prepare plans and specifications for buildings, industrial and utility structures, foundations, and other structures.
- Prepare design criteria, calculations, reports, and other documents.
- Work with designers/drafters to prepare plan sets.
- Collaborate with other design disciplines.
- Attend site visits and project site inspections.
Other Functions of Position:
1. Serve as lead civil/structural engineer on small to medium size projects.
2. Review construction submittals.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a focus on structures. A Master’s Degree in structures is preferred.
- Five to nine years of experience in structural design practice of buildings and/or industrial structures.
- A licensed professional engineer or engineer-intern with the desire to obtain PE licensure shortly after hire.
- Knowledgeable in the design of structural steel systems and concrete foundations. Additional experience with wood and masonry design is considered a plus.
- Computer skills in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Mathcad, RISA suite (or other finite element software), and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate within the organization and outside with clients.
- Work a full-time or hybrid schedule at one of RLC’s three office locations.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand or sit for 8 hours, occasionally move and lift up to 30 lbs,
- Walk grounds/property regularly, and use repetitive manual dexterity.
