The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and ensuring that all products—particularly cable assemblies and electronics assemblies—meet internal and customer quality requirements. This role pilots continuous improvement initiatives, manages quality documentation, and ensures regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction through effective quality assurance and control processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, implement, and improve the ISO 9001-compliant QMS. Ensure that policies, procedures, and records are current and aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and lead internal audits; coordinate and support external audits including ISO 9001 surveillance and certification audits, supplier audits and customer audits. Maintain compliance documentation to customer requirements e.g. CMRT, ROHS, REACH, PFAS requirements
- Develop/Maintain NCR/CAPA System utilizing NetSuite and other tools. Ensure timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection of cable and electronics assemblies. Work closely with production and engineering to define inspection criteria and test protocols.
- Manage quality records, including work instructions, inspection sheets, test data, Develop and maintain supplier quality systems. Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues, conduct audits, and improve quality of purchased components.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues. Lead investigations into non-conformances, issue root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Use data-driven tools (e.g., root cause analysis, Pareto charts, 5 Whys, FMEA) to lead continuous improvement efforts across production and quality operations.
- Train and mentor quality technicians and production personnel in quality standards, tools, and procedures. Promote a culture of quality across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 5 years of experience in quality management in a manufacturing environment, with cable and/or electronics assemblies including experience with PCBA manufacturing
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 QMS implementation and maintenance. (ISO 13485 and AS9100 experience also accepted)
- Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, CAPA, 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and using measurement tools.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001) or equivalent a plus.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards and implementation of quality inspection to those standards.
Physical Demands:
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Occasional travel required.
- Occasional work in a manufacturing environment with no exposure to hazardous conditions.
Work Environment:
This role is performed in an office setting, with occasional travel to attend events, meet with clients, or collaborate with other departments.
