Job Summary
Responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems under the supervision of a journeyman or foreman. This role involves learning and applying industry standards, safety protocols, and trade skills through both on-the-job training and required classroom instruction. Employment in this position is contingent upon successful enrollment and progression in a five-year apprenticeship program, which is necessary for advancement to journeyman status.
Essential Duties
- Successfully apply and enroll in the CAFSA apprenticeship program, a comprehensive 5-year training program.
- Work under the guidance of experienced journeyman technicians to gain practical experience in fire sprinkler installation, inspections, and repair.
- Learn to safely and effectively handle tools, equipment, and materials used in fire sprinkler work.
- Contribute to the installation of fire sprinkler systems (pre action, deluge, etc), including pipe fitting, threading, and securing components.
- Follow blueprints, specifications, and safety protocols under the guidance of experienced mentors and instructors.
- Attend CAFSA classes, workshops, and educational programs once a week or as required.
- Submit CAFSA assignments and exams in the required time.
- Maintain a passing grade in the CAFSA program.
- Ability to follow precise directions.
- Effective communicating and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and heights.
- Ability to commute to CAFSA training facility and attend classes.
- Position requires adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and apprenticeship program requirements.
- Valid Driver's License.
Qualifications
- Previous construction or related experience preferred.
- Successful enrollment and acceptance into the CAFSA apprenticeship program.
- Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to acquire new skills
- A strong desire to pursue a career in the fire protection industry.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to learn, follow instructions, and perform physically demanding work in various environments
- Commitment to learning and development.

Safety/Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Ability to walk without seating for extended periods
- This position requires constant climbing, squatting, lifting, and pulling
- Hand and finger dexterity required
- Ability to work in varying outdoor temperatures, and indoor cold temperature depending on col box/freezer temps
Education
- Highschool diploma or equivalent

Pay Rate: Follows CAFSA pay schedule
Classification: Non-exempt, Full Time, In Person
Supervisory: This position does not have direct reporting employees
