RMGA is seeking an experienced
Vice President of Transportation Underwriting
to lead our underwriting team in McAllen, Texas. This leadership role will drive underwriting strategy, ensure profitable risk selection, and oversee pricing for our transportation insurance portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial auto, trucking, and logistics risks, coupled with strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and execute underwriting strategies for commercial transportation risks to achieve business growth and profitability.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing underwriting team.
Assess and manage complex risk evaluations, ensuring adherence to company underwriting guidelines.
Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and risk management teams to optimize portfolio performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and key industry stakeholders.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to refine underwriting practices.
Establish best practices for underwriting processes, risk assessment, and policy structuring.
Contribute to strategic planning and overall company objectives.
Qualifications :
10 years of experience in transportation underwriting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Expertise in commercial auto, trucking, and logistics insurance products.
Proven track record of developing and executing profitable underwriting strategies.
Strong leadership, team-building, and decision-making skills.
Established relationships with brokers, agents, and industry professionals.
Bachelors degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field (CPCU or other industry designations preferred).
