To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Substation Wireman to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Substation Wireman’s primary role includes meticulously constructing, maintaining, and troubleshooting substation systems to ensure their seamless operation. This role is pivotal in supporting the continuous functionality and reliability of electrical equipment within high voltage substations. By expertly handling the installation and upkeep of complex electrical systems, the Substation Wireman significantly contributes to the overall performance and stability of electrical installations. Their work includes assembling and maintaining control wiring, installing high voltage equipment, and performing detailed inspections to identify and address potential issues.

Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring and equipment, ensuring all work complies with relevant electrical codes and industry standards for safety and performance.
- Interpret complex blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical documents to accurately plan and execute efficient wiring layouts.
- Measure, cut, and install wires and conduits with precision, utilizing a variety of hand tools and advanced measuring instruments to ensure proper fit and functionality.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other critical components, ensuring secure and reliable electrical connections.
- Test electrical systems and verify the continuity of circuits in wiring, equipment, and fixtures using advanced testing devices to ensure optimal operation and safety.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs, ensuring ongoing system integrity.
- Perform emergency repairs to restore power or mitigate electrical hazards, often responding outside of normal business hours to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possess over 3 years of relevant experience, demonstrating extensive expertise and knowledge in the electrical field.
- Preferred post-secondary education in electrical technology or a related field, with many having earned a certificate or associate degree, showcasing advanced technical training.
- Have extensive hands-on experience in electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Exhibit intermediate to advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints, enabling precise planning and execution of electrical projects.

- Ability to travel at least 75%.
- Valid and current driver’s license with clean driving record.

Working Conditions:
This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.
Physical Requirements:
The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
