The ideal candidate will combine expertise in geospatial analytics, vegetation classification, and utility corridor management to ensure and infrastructure safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- LiDAR & Aerial Data Processing: Classify vegetation from drone-collected LiDAR point cloud and multispectral imagery. Map power line networks and establish clearance zones per powerline safety standards.
- 3D Encroachment Analysis & Reporting: Identify high-risk vegetation encroachment using ESRI 3D Analyst or PLS-CADD modelling software. Generate Priority 1 Encroachment Reports for immediate mitigation actions.
- PLS-CADD Model Development: Build and enhance PLS-CADD models with species-level vegetation IDs and inventory metrics. Deliver Inventory Count Reports for asset management.
- Geospatial Workflow Optimization: Ensure outputs are compatible with client-specific PLS-CADD workflows. Process data in ESRI ArcGIS Pro (Spatial/3D Analyst) when PLS-CADD is unavailable.
- Quality Assurance & Collaboration: Perform QA/QC on geospatial deliverables. Coordinate with teams to procure PLS-CADD licenses as needed.
Essential Experience:
- 2 years of hands-on GIS experience in LiDAR data processing and vegetation classification.
- Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and extension (ArcGIS Pro, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst).
- Experience to conduct 3D spatial analysis for encroachment risk (e.g., clearance violations).
- Knowledge and experience with PLS-CADD model.
- Knowledge of utility vegetation management standards (e.g., NERC FAC-003, FERC).
- Strong technical reporting skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work experience with electric utilities or transmission line projects.
- Python/ArcPy scripting for data automation.
- Drone related data processing certification.
- Familiarity with drone/UAV data workflows.
