About the Role
The Business Development (BD) Manager is a dynamic, externally facing role reporting directly to the BD Director, tasked with generating new business opportunities and driving growth for RNGD. Initially focused on the Building Team in the Gulf Coast region, the BD Manager will proactively pursue leads, build client relationships, and enhance RNGD’s market presence in these key areas, with the potential to expand efforts across additional business units over time. This role emphasizes opportunity generation through strategic networking, sales efforts, and market engagement, aligning with the BD Director’s overarching strategies and the Sector Specific Business Development Plan.
The BD Manager will represent RNGD in client meetings, industry events, and sales pursuits, working closely with the BD Director, business unit leaders, and the marketing team to convert opportunities into actionable projects. The ideal candidate is an energetic, results-driven professional with at least 4-6 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably in construction or a related industry, who excels at relationship-building, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates initiative in identifying and securing new business.
Primary Responsibilities
Opportunity Generation:
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Gulf Coast markets, aligning efforts with the BD Director’s strategic priorities.
- Generate leads through cold calling, market research, networking, and outreach, contributing to the growth of RNGD’s project pipeline.
- Support the BD Director in executing business development strategies that position RNGD to win new contracts and expand market share.
Client Relationship Development:
- Build and nurture relationships with prospective and existing clients, acting as a key point of contact to drive engagement and trust.
- Collaborate with the BD Director to identify high-potential clients and develop tailored approaches to secure their business.
- Follow up on leads and opportunities, ensuring consistent communication and progress toward deal closure.
Sales and Pursuit Support:
- Lead or participate in sales calls, client meetings, and interviews for strategic project pursuits as directed by the BD Director.
- Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and pitch materials, ensuring alignment with client needs and company objectives.
- Work with business unit leaders and the BD Director to close deals, providing operational support during the sales process.
Strategic Networking:
- Engage in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance RNGD’s visibility and identify potential business leads.
- Represent RNGD externally with professionalism, building a network of industry contacts to support long-term growth.
- Report insights from external engagements to the BD Director to inform broader business development strategies.
CRM and Pipeline Contribution:
- Utilize the CRM system to track activities, manage client interactions, and monitor progress on opportunities, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
- Provide data and feedback to the BD Director on pipeline status, including lead development and conversion rates.
- Support the BD Director in maintaining a robust 12- and 24-month pipeline through consistent opportunity generation.
Market Awareness and Reporting:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and opportunities, sharing actionable insights with the BD Director and team.
- Prepare reports on business development activities, outcomes, and market conditions as requested, contributing to strategic planning efforts.
- Stay informed of industry developments to enhance RNGD’s competitive positioning in target markets.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with the BD Director and business unit leaders to align external efforts with internal goals and project capabilities.
- Collaborate weekly with the Marketing Manager, under the BD Director’s guidance, to ensure marketing materials support opportunity generation.
- Facilitate effective communication between clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to advance business development objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced coursework or certifications preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industry.
Skills:
- Proven ability to generate business opportunities and build client relationships in a competitive market.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for engaging clients and industry stakeholders effectively.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to identify market opportunities and contribute to strategic outreach efforts.
- Proficiency in CRM software, pipeline management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
