About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Equipment Mechanic to service and repair heavy construction equipment. The Equipment Mechanic will perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor. This individual will assess and operate various types of construction equipment including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, skid steer, rollers, forklifts, and wheel loaders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assessing and repairing heavy equipment failure
- Diagnose and repairs engine, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Lubricating components of machinery.
- Deliver and install parts on equipment at the job site.
- Conduct general routine cleanup of equipment.
- Check, change, and maintain fluids in machinery.
- Produce and maintain detailed service reports as requested by the team leader.
- Document new processes and knowledge gained from various repairs/encounters.
- Provide excellent service and customer support.
- Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.
- Perform all job duties while following Company safety protocols.
- Build positive relationships with internal & external customers.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of construction related experience preferred.
- Advanced understanding of electrical and hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
- Knowledge of new tier engines and emissions.
- Basic understanding of computers and related software.
- Knowledge of CAT ET and/or John Deere Service Advisor programs.
- Class "D" driver’s license or the ability to obtain a Class D license.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC.
- Availability to work overtime including weekends, night shifts and/or be on call as needed.
- Ability to travel out of the town as needed.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work as part of a team successfully.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls,
- Sit, talk, and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Work on-site at the construction work site where there will be exposure to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
