About the Role
The Shop Fitter at RNGD Prefab is crucial in ensuring that all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product. They are responsible for reading and interpreting shop drawings, laying out parts before welding, and assembling structural steel components.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings to determine materials requirements and assembly procedures.
- Lay out components according to specifications, ensuring accurate alignment and placement.
- Assemble structural steel, stairs, and railings according to engineering instructions.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment to measure, cut, bend, and form metal parts.
- Collaborate with welders & shop foreman to ensure that components are properly prepared for welding.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure the assembly meets the required specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Shop Fitter, with strong skills in reading shop drawings and assembling structural steel, stairs, and railings.
- Detailed knowledge of layout techniques and metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in metal fabrication or related field is a plus.
