About the Role Ironworkers are responsible for erecting and assembling the structural and miscellaneous. steel of buildings, bridges, PEMB, and other miscellaneous. projects. In this role, you'll work side-by-side with skilled tradespeople and your project foreman to interpret blueprints, handle heavy materials, and ensure every piece is placed with precision. Requires a commitment to safety and quality of your work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Erect and Assemble Structural Steel: Safely install, align, and secure steel beams, columns, and girders based on project specifications and blueprints.
- Operate Rigging and Heavy Equipment: Use cranes, hoists, and rigging gear to lift and position materials accurately.
- Ensure On-Site Safety: Adhere to rigorous safety protocols, actively identifying and addressing hazardous conditions to maintain a secure work environment.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with foremen, fellow ironworkers, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Embrace and promote new techniques and technologies that enhance productivity and safety on the job site.
- Maintain Tools and Equipment: Regularly inspect and care for all tools and machinery to ensure they’re ready for safe use.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D; completion of an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program or equivalent vocational training.
- Experience: 5 years of ironworking or related construction experience, with a strong background in structural steel erection.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints and using heavy equipment, rigging tools, and welding apparatus; relevant certifications (e.g., NCCER, OSHA) are a plus.
- The ability to weld is a plus. Certifications in welding preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, work at heights, and handle heavy materials.
- Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to travel as needed for various project sites. Primary areas of focus are Gulf Coast Region, Nashville, and Huntsville Regions.
- TWIC eligibility is required.
- Reliable transportation is required
- Required to pass a drug and background check and maintain status. (Subject to random testing)
- OSHA 10hr/30hr a plus, must be willing to perform training.
