We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial / Civil (familiar with all aspects of Civil) Estimator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and civil construction projects. The estimator will analyze project requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to winning bids and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Evaluation :
- Conduct site visits, when necessary, to gather information on project conditions.
- Cost Estimation :
- Develop and manage pricing models for various project types.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Bid Preparation :
- Respond to bid clarifications and post-bid reviews.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination :
- Maintain relationships with reliable vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Budgeting and Forecasting :
- Monitor market trends, including material costs and labor rates.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Provide insights and recommendations to support project planning and decision-making.
- Risk Assessment :
- Continuous Improvement :
- Seek opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies.
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience : 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial or civil projects.
- Technical Skills :
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
- Soft Skills :
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Office-based with occasional site visits.
- May require extended hours during bid deadlines or project demands.
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope and requirements.
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
Compile and submit competitive and comprehensive bids for commercial and civil construction projects.
Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist in preparing project budgets and financial forecasts based on estimates.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and recommend mitigation strategies.
Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications :
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
