- Seizure Disorders, Diastat
- Tracheostomy
- G-tube
- Type I Diabetic Management, Insulin Injections and Pumps
- Providing Medication to Students and Structuring Care Plans
As a school Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in pediatric care, you will:
- Conduct health assessments and provide medical care to students as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments following physician orders and state regulations.
- Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical history.
- Assist students with chronic illnesses in managing their conditions while at school.
- Perform health screenings, vision and hearing tests, and maintain accurate health records.
- Provide first aid and immediate care for injuries or sudden illnesses.
- Educate students, parents, and staff on health-related topics and promote a healthy school environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, school counselors, and administrators to ensure students' well-being.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all health-related matters.
- Participate in emergency drills and crisis intervention when necessary.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in pediatric healthcare through continuing education.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in the state of Virginia.
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion and empathy for working with children and their families.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding school health services.
- BLS and First Aid certification.
