What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, Project Engineer - Construction position at Road Commission for Oakland County?
Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the division head, is responsible for and supervises:
- Construction of a project from bid letting to closing out the contract.
- Leads pre-construction meetings, project progress meetings, and participates in utility coordination meetings.
- Assigns and supervises the work of construction inspectors to ensure proper materials and construction methods comply with contract drawings and specifications.
- Visits construction sites frequently to observe progress or review issues and prepares recommendations to the Division Head.
- Supervises and coordinates work of a survey crew for proper layout and grade staking.
- Prepares and maintains monthly pay estimates and other documentation for contractor, based on the work performed and tabulation of materials used.
- Works closely with Traffic-Safety, Highway Maintenance, Design and Right-of-Way Departments and Divisions.
- Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
- Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
- Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.
Special Experience/Education
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience commensurate with the duties described above is required.
- A professional engineer registration is preferred.
- MDOT Office Technician Certification, or the ability to obtain at the conclusion of the first available class is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
