Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation management and fleet operations, with a focus on ensuring efficient and safe delivery of goods. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, managing logistics operations, and maintaining effective communication with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize transportation management software, including Oracle Transportation Management, to plan and optimize routes, manage transportation schedules, and monitor fleet operations.
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to fleet management, such as route optimization, driver performance, and logistics efficiency.
- Coordinate with drivers and dispatchers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation.
- Utilize phone systems and phone etiquette to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including shipment tracking and fleet maintenance.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to optimize fleet operations and improve transportation efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement in logistics operations and implement changes to enhance efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transportation management, fleet operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot transportation issues.
- Experience with transportation management software, including Oracle Transportation Management and AS400.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- 3PL experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required for entry-level positions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry standards.
