PROGRAM DESIGN : Roads to Success ( RTS) facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging , where young people can build their Independence , find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are.
PRIMARY FUNCTION : The Recess Coach is responsible for creating and facilitating dynamic, fun, and age-appropriate activities for entire classes of students grades K-8. This role requires a high level of creativity, energy, and the ability to engage with children of various ages effectively.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE :
Supervisor : Program Director
Max Hours : 15 per week
Days : 5 per week, Monday - Friday
Compensation : $20 - $25 per hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Activity Planning and Implementation
Design and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities for students in grades K-8.
- Ensure activities are inclusive and cater to a diverse range of interests and abilities.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other coaches, especially when managing large classes.
Time Management and Organization
Efficiently manage time to ensure that activities begin and end as scheduled.
Student Safety and Supervision
Monitor students during recess to ensure a safe and positive environment.
Relationship Building
Develop positive relationships with students across different grades and classes.
Logistical Support
Coordinate bathroom breaks for students, adhering to policies that ensure their safety and well-being.
