Job Summary
The Director of Sales Operations will play a critical role in optimizing Company's commercial performance by advancing sales processes, tools, analytics, and cross-functional initiatives. This leader will collaborate with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, HR, and senior management to drive profitable revenue growth. They will build on foundational capabilities, define future-state strategies, and directly impact the success of the company's sales organization.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Processes :
- Design and enhance sales processes to improve client experience and team efficiency.
- Identify and implement best practices, creating a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain and evolve sales playbooks to align with competitive intelligence and company strategy.
- Ensure alignment between sales processes and broader business goals.
- Participate in sales activities to ensure process compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
Sales Enablement :
Collaborate with HR and IT to provide tools, training, and incentives for the sales team.Lead competitive, customer, and market intelligence initiatives.Streamline sales operations to minimize overhead and maximize selling time.Function as a visible leader in onboarding and training programs.Reporting & Metrics :
Oversee sales data and analytics, ensuring accurate and actionable dashboards.Establish CRM guidelines to maintain data quality and standardization.Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities across segments.Develop performance reports and support target-setting and quota allocation.Provide monthly key performance metrics to executive leadership.Partner with IT to automate and enhance reporting tools.Strategic Planning & Execution :
Contribute to strategic planning with data-driven insights.Adapt sales strategies to changing market dynamics and customer needs.Translate strategies into actionable processes for the sales organization.Develop and refine pricing strategies to optimize revenue and profitability.Communications :
Foster open communication between sales and operations leadership.Support the rollout of new sales initiatives and strategies.Represent Company at industry events to expand the brand's presence.Team Management :
Serve as an indirect leader, driving initiatives and acting as a subject matter expert.Potential to grow into a direct management role as business needs evolve.Secondary Responsibilities :
Collaborate with marketing to ensure sales collateral aligns with campaigns and market needs.Support HR in recruiting and hiring for the sales team.Oversee territory design and lead / account allocation.Contribute to the development of product / service strategies.Coach and mentor sales team members as needed.Author thought leadership content in collaboration with marketing.Qualifications
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 7 years in sales operations, commercial strategy, or sales consulting roles.Skills & Abilities :
Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) and CRM implementation experience.Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills.Experience in B2B sales, ideally in manufacturing, industrial, or highway construction sectors.Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for analytics and presentations.Self-motivated with a high energy level and enthusiasm for problem-solving.Additional Requirements :
Flexibility to travel up to 25%.Ability to deliver presentations and engage with diverse stakeholders.Chicago-based with regular office attendance required.EOE Statement
