This role ensures operational efficiency, maintains high-quality standards, and enforces compliance with safety regulations while leading a productive team. The Sign Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing, production, inventory management, and material procurement for the sign shop. This role ensures operational efficiency, maintains high-quality standards, and enforces compliance with safety regulations while leading a productive team. This position requires a hands-on leader who can drive operational excellence, uphold quality and safety standards, and foster a productive work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee sign shop employees and daily production workflows.
- Manage inventory, material orders, and sign submittals to ensure availability and accuracy.
- Maintain quality control standards and uphold customer service expectations.
- Assign and oversee daily tasks for sign shop employees.
- Monitor production rates, material usage, and overall efficiency to optimize operations.
- Ensure full compliance with MUTCD standards and highway signage regulations.
- Manage customer orders, verifying accuracy and timely fulfillment.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate necessary repairs.
Education & Certification:
High school diploma or GED required.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with MUTCD standards and highway signage regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Sai Flexi or CAD software preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
- Understanding of production rates, manufacturing processes, and operational efficiency.
- Experience operating large-format printers is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees adhere to safety protocols and use required PPE.
- Conduct daily safety meetings to reinforce workplace safety and compliance.
- Assign and manage daily production tasks to optimize workflow.
- Monitor and analyze production efficiency and material usage.
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure finished products meet company standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and direct regular maintenance.
- Provide cross-training in sales to serve as backup when needed.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Operations teams to align production with project deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Sales Department to verify order details and ensure timely deliveries.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain necessary inventory levels.
- Design and submit sign submittals as required.
- Facilitate ongoing employee training and performance evaluations to enhance team capabilities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels in a production environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching for up to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to lift and transport objects weighing over 50 pounds throughout shifts.
