Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and overall functionality of college buildings, grounds, and equipment. Job Duties
- Responds to and completes work orders for various maintenance projects and requests in a timely manner.
- Performs basic plumbing maintenance, including repairing faucets, unclogging drain lines, rebuilding and replacing plumbing fixtures.
- Performs electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, lightbulbs and electrical switches and receptacles.
- Drywall repairs, painting, replacing ceiling tiles as well as carpet and floor tiles.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and to assess condition of buildings/systems.
- Assists with indoor and outdoor College event set-up and break-down, including tables, chairs, podiums, risers.
- Mow, weed eat, prune, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid state of Tennessee driver’s license
- Must pass a background investigation, including a favorable motor vehicle record and criminal background report.
Previous experience as a Maintenance Worker.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills.
- Ability to use various tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in different types of climates including both hot and cold, indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, move and carry 50-75 pounds.
- The ability to be able to work occasional overtime in the evenings as well as nights and weekends to support campus events and/or respond to maintenance and weather issues.
- Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
