Overview
The Instrument Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare setting, ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly maintained, sterilized, and prepared for use. This position is essential in supporting the medical staff in providing high-quality patient care within various settings, including hospitals and clinics. The Attendant/Environmental Technician performs room turn-over cleaning between cases of the operating/procedure room suite according to A.O.R.N. standards of practice.
Duties
- Prepare, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment for use in various procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of instruments to ensure they are functioning correctly and meet safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of instrument usage, sterilization processes, and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to understand their needs and provide timely support during procedures.
- Ensure compliance with center policies and procedures related to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance programs to enhance service delivery within the department.
- Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of the rooms before and between cases and after terminal case cleaning.
Skills
