What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista (Benefits Eligible) position at Roanoke College?
The Barista position is one that requires a passion for specialty coffee and desire to learn the craft with customer service ability. This individual must have a disposition for providing excellent customer service, work well with others as part of a team, and must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Rooney's Brews is a coffee shop and cafe located in Roanoke College's Fintel Library. The Barista will thrive if they possess strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve customers with enthusiasm in a positive and friendly manner
- Prepare and serve beverages to operation standards
- Prepare and serve food in a safe and sanitary manner
- Handling payment transactions accurately using a variety of tenders, including : Cash, Credit, etc..
- Develop strong knowledge of menu items and be able to provide customers with product details
- Complete training programming as directed to ensure strong product knowledge.
- Maintain all equipment, cleaning as required for peak operating performance
- Daily and weekly cleaning tasks as required in the cafe, seating areas and storeroom
- Complete daily inventory of menu items to assist in ordering products
- Wash dishes and small wares as needed
- Educating customers on specialty coffee and engaging them for feedback
- Opening and closing of cafe following operating procedures
