What are the responsibilities and job description for the Naval National Defense Cadet Corp (NNDCC) Instructor position at Roanoke County Schools?
Roanoke County Public Schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Naval National Defense Cadet Corp (NNDCC) Instructor at William Byrd High School.
Certified applicants should be highly motivated Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard commissioned officers in grades W-2 through O-6, or a non-commissioned officer in grades E-6 through E-9. This is a solo instructor program with a unit enrollment of 50 cadets. The position is a 10-month contract. The unit has an active Color Guard, Orienteering, and Athletic team. For the 23 / 24 SY we will start Air Rifle and Drone teams. Applicants must be willing to work before and after school and some weekends traveling with cadets and supporting school and community events. The school is on an A / B Block schedule.
The NNDCC Instructor duties include, but are not limited to :
- Directing the unit and advising school authorities on unit needs and program requirements
- Teaching the prescribed three or four year Naval Science curriculum, including writing and updating lesson plans and performing other lesson preparation requirements
- Instructing cadets in military drill while ensuring the safety and well-being of cadets at all times during cadets’ participation in unit activities
- Serving on routine faculty committees and performing curricular or extracurricular duties
normally performed by, and rotated equitably among, other faculty members
instructor supervision (i.e., when attending Naval Science classes, drills, or on authorized fieldtrips or orientation cruises) and that they observe military courtesies and traditions
academic, drill and marksmanship team competitive meets, field trips, basic leadership training camps and / or ship cruises
cadets are trained in accordance with current requirements of the Navy
into the program
Qualifications :
Applicant must meet the requirements for a JROTC instructor as defined inNSTC M-.1B Regulations for Citizenship Development (RCD)
